What does it mean to dream about your ex?
Dreaming about an ex is one of the most searched dreams of all, but the old books have no word for it: Miller wrote in 1901 about sweethearts, lovers and divorce. These are his nearest entries, quoted exactly, so you can see what he did and did not say.
What Miller wrote (1901)
To dream that your sweetheart is affable and of pleasing physique, foretells that you will woo a woman who will prove a joy to your pride and will bring you a good inheritance. If she appears otherwise, you will be discontented with your choice before the marriage vows are consummated.

To dream of being divorced, denotes that you are not satisfied with your companion, and should cultivate a more congenial atmosphere in the home life. It is a dream of warning.

Your dream is not a dictionary entry
A dream about your ex comes with a place, other people and a feeling, and the old books read the same image very differently depending on those details. Dreamlore takes your whole dream, spoken or typed, finds the passages that fit it in Miller and Freud, quotes them word for word, and leaves you one question to reflect on. The journal stays on your phone.

Questions
What does it mean to dream about your ex?
Miller's 1901 dictionary has no entry for an ex. His nearest entries read a sweetheart who appears unpleasing as being discontented with your choice, and being divorced as not being satisfied with your companion. A dream about an ex often says more about what you are feeling now than about the person; these old lines are a starting point for reflection.
Where do these quotes come from?
They are quoted verbatim from public-domain books: Gustavus Hindman Miller's Ten Thousand Dreams Interpreted (1901). Each quote on this page is checked word for word against the source text before the page is served, the same check the Dreamlore app runs on every quote it shows.

Dreamlore and these pages are for reflection and curiosity. The books quoted here are old — Miller wrote in 1901 and his entries read as omens, and many of Freud's ideas are disputed today. Take them as a starting point for thinking about your own dream, not as prediction or advice.
